Forum Executive Agenda

Our program of activities

Day 1

First Block: Producer Organizations

This block will address key issues for the coffee farming sector, including lessons from the 2024 coffee campaign from the production perspective, the behavior of farmers towards the 2025 campaign, the impact of the borer and the disease, and management strategies from organizations. It will also examine whether resistant varieties represent an effective strategy for the future, the protection of organic production against pests and diseases, and the effect of a good coffee price on producer farms. Additionally, it will examine the impact of the exchange on the production sector in relation to micro lots and specialty coffees, as well as the loyalty of partners and cooperative governance, questioning whether, when coffee prices are high on the street, partners continue to deliver coffee to the cooperative.

Day 1

Second Block: Exporting Organizations

This block will analyze the financial and commercial challenges that the coffee farming sector is facing. It will address the lack of funding for storage, highlighting how the need for capital has doubled compared to the previous year. Additionally, it will evaluate the risk of losses due to high volatility in prices and the importance of appropriate fixations, exploring alternatives to mitigate these risks. It will also discuss the real demand in the international market, identifying strategies to reduce volatility and take advantage of new commercial opportunities. Finally, it will examine the monitoring of risks, detailing the key aspects that must be monitored to minimize price volatility and prevent potential losses.

Day 2

Buyers and Importers

In the second day of the forum, it will analyze the perception of the Peruvian market after the changes in prices at the end of 2024 and the strategies against an upward price, as well as its impact on the purchase differential. It will debate the relationship between importers and producers, evaluating whether it is necessary to work more closely and the impact of coverings on the stability of the sector. It will also examine the demand for coffee volume and the negative effects of market volatility, as well as the viability of Peru as an investment destination and the development of a commercial strategy for the medium or long term.

Additionally, it will address the impacts of the increase in coffee prices on global consumption and the consumption trends in key markets, analyzing whether demand has increased or decreased. It will explore strategies to mitigate price volatility from the perspective of importers and the current problems in international trade, considering their consequences for Peruvian producers. Finally, it will discuss the relationship between buyers and producers, identifying the main challenges and opportunities in a constantly changing global market.

Day 3

Finances

In the last day of the forum, it will address the rising coffee price trend and its impact on the financial sector, including its effects on financial entities and coffee leverage, as well as the ability of organizations to sustain themselves in this context. It will also analyze the strategies for financing the 2025 campaign, the growing need for capital that has generated an overleveraged asset base of cooperatives and the perception of national banking on coffee leverage without real collateral.

Another central axis will be the risk and volatility of coffee, examining the increase in risk in the sector, the new financial strategies for covering, and the possible loss of clients due to price instability. It will discuss the key points in which cooperatives must focus to mitigate the risk of loss before the volatility of the market.

Additionally, it will evaluate the influence of price increases in Peru on the approval of loans, as well as the acceptance of 2024 contracts by financial institutions for 2026. Finally, it will explore the measures and new conditions that are being considered to mitigate financial and commercial risks in the year 2025.
